The idea is that what we read should be “life enhancing” – should we write about “happy” things as opposed to darker ones? A good story should have a traditional beginning, middle and end so that it is a complete tale. The author weaves ideas into a story What is the “ideal man”? – does such a thing exist or do we all need three ( or more) in order to satisfy all our needs? The laws of attraction are such that the people/men that you meet reflect how you are at that particular time. Even though stories are published as e-books there is something so very satisfying about actually holding a book in your hand… members' comments on "to kill a mocking bird"and mlk speech
- people look down on others because of class or money, especially in small towns and communities
- there were students who went to school on the first day, signed their name, went home and never went to school again - poor families and blacks were at the bottom of the class structure so some families were envious if they saw blacks "getting on" - it is horrifying to think that this all took place in our lifetimes, not in some distant past. Mob linchings continued well into the 20th century -homosexuals continue to suffer from discrimination in many countries - in my mum's house in Liverpool there are still manacles in the basement where servants/slaves were chained up at night - as regards the film, Gregory Peck is exactly Finch - the whole town was built inside the studio |
